Nick’s career as an academic clinician has positioned him as a leading opinion in the field of clinical obesity. He has held consultant appointments at Luton and Dunstable Hospital where he founded the Centre of Obesity Research, undertaking clinical trials of early anti-obesity medications as well as investigator-led projects spanning endocrinology and body composition, and initiating one of the first UK multi-disciplinary bariatric surgery services within the National Health Service.

As Senior Clinical Research Associate at Cambridge University and Honorary Consultant Physician at Addenbrooke’s Hospitals (2002-2009) he established a tertiary centre for obesity assessment and management; he was also clinical director of the Wellcome Clinical Research Facility.

From 2009-2016 he moved to become Consultant Endocrinologist and Bariatric Physician at University College Hospital, London and Honorary Clinical Professor at the National Centre for Cardiovascular Prevention and Outcomes, UCL Institute of Cardiovascular Science until 2022.

From 2016-2022 Nick was Senior Principal Clinical Scientist, Global Medical Affairs, with Novo Nordisk in Denmark.
